    Job Function


    To support and conduct interdisciplinary research combining biology and mathematics, focusing on microbial growth dynamics, nutrient-limiting models, chemostat experiments, biochemical assays, and quantitative data analysis.

    Responsibilities

    • Assemble and operate chemostat systems to study bacterial growth under nutrient-limited conditions.
    • Prepare culture media and establish limiting concentration ranges for nutrients.
    • Perform inoculation, monitoring, and steady-state experiments to quantify microbial kinetics.
    • Collect, analyse, and model data on bacterial growth rates, nutrient concentrations, and cell density.
    • Conduct assays related to phospholipid pathways, glucose absorption (OGTT), and electrical impedance in biological samples.
    • Support epidemiological data analysis by collecting, organizing, and interpreting past epidemic datasets.
    • Draft research reports, contribute to publications, and present findings at scientific meetings.

    Experience


    2 years as Laboratory Technician.

    Skills

    • Cell & Microbiology Skills: Aseptic techniques, microbial culturing, and sterile lab practices.
    • Lab Equipment Proficiency: Operation of centrifuge, incubator, Nano Drop spectrophotometer, biosafety cabinet, and autoclave.
    • Sample & Data Handling: Accurate sample preparation, labeling, storage, and data entry using Microsoft Excel.
    • Molecular Techniques: DNA extraction (QIAGEN kits), PCR amplification, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, and barcoding for sex determination and species identification.
    • Soft Skills: Well-spoken communicator, organized, collaborative, and experienced in following lab protocols and maintaining clean documentation, with good skills in scientific writing, including research proposals, progress reports, and academic papers.
