    Role Overview

    The Lead Solution/Software Architect will own the architectural decisions for the team, covering backend API, integrations, frontend native Apps and web portals. He/she should be the visionary force behind the technical solution. He/she values simplicity and is unafraid to challenge technical constraints and procedures to achieve an Agile design. He/she works closely with all architects group to reassure creating a modular, scalable solution that addresses/incorporates future architectural changes and designs. He/she should consult in alignment with principals the engineering practices.

    The role is hybrid if you are located in Cairo or fully remote for international contractors.

    About the Contract

    • The role is a long-term (one-year renewable) contract position.
    • The payments are paid out in gross amount in USD on a monthly schedule.

    Responsibilities

    • Coach architects to design the overall solution/application architecture of the product with the help of the team.
    • Guide project teams on technology strategy related to coding practices, continuous integration, and automated deployment.
    • Accountable for the technical design of the product.
    • Be hands-on and engage in coding to help the team develop the solution and solve all surfacing problems at hand. Identify and remove technical impediments.
    • Work with the Product Owner to align the roadmap with strengths and opportunities within the technical stack.
    • Thought partner with the Product Owner in story creation and acceptance criteria, and communicate trade-offs effectively with Designers.
    • Constantly look for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution, not afraid of challenging the status quo.
    • Provide the team with a roadmap for implementing software engineering practices for higher code quality.
    • Share responsibility with the Product Owner for building reusable and scalable components.
    • Report to the Head of Engineering, aligning architecture decisions and technology stacks implementation.

    Requirements

    • 12-15 years of experience, expert within the architecture and solutioning of technical components of the domains, products, and digital customer journeys.
    • Expert in designing architecture artifacts, documents, and UML as well as presentation capabilities for both backend and frontend solutions considering integrated journeys.
    • Ability to make architecture decisions at a team and product level.
    • Seasoned software architect with deep insight into the newest technologies and trends, including Java/JVM, Kotlin, Swift/Objective-C, Angular/React, GoLang, and/or Python.
    • Hands-on experience with API-first driven decisions and secure, easily scalable, and available solutions.
    • Hands-on experience in production native-cloud Microservices, DevOps, and CI/CD environments.
    • Experience in Agile Development, with specific Solution Architect (or similar) experience preferred.
    • Understanding of the relationship with Product Lead, Agile Coaches, Quality Head, and Delivery Head towards autonomous decision-making.
    • Experience managing technical priorities within the Backlog.
