    We're seeking a creative and energetic individual to join our communications team as an entry-level social media specialist. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build a career with a community-focused brand that touches every aspect of the modern technology stack.

    Our social media presence offers a unique window between our teams who create our products and the millions of users who rely on them. This platform allows us to engage with our audience, gather feedback, and foster a sense of community around Ubuntu and our other projects.

    The ideal candidate is passionate about technology marketing and the use of technology in marketing. They should be driven to learn and improve themselves, the team, and the organisation. Key skills include problem-solving, hands-on experimentation, and automation expertise.

    Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

    • Develop, schedule, and publish content across multiple social media platforms.
    • Share regular updates and reporting on social media metrics, content performance, and campaign results.
    • SUPPORT THE GROWTH AND NURTURING OF CANONICAL'S SOCIAL MEDIA AUDIENCES, WHILE INCREASING ENGAGEMENT RATES AND VALUABLE ACTIONS.
    • Develop flair with copywriting and asset creation to create messaging that aligns with the brand and drives audiences towards action.
    • Execute A/B and multivariate growth tests.
    • Be audience-centric, focusing on platform and community moderation, as well as direct audience engagement.
    • Create awareness on integrated campaigns, product launches, webinar series, industry announcements, and core content.
    • Packaging all of Canonical's product offerings and educational material creatively.

    What We're Looking For in You

    • Understanding of social media and communications best practices.
    • Hands-on knowledge of social media management tools like Sprout Social; web analytics tools (social and web like Google Analytics) are a plus.
    • Proficiency with at least four social media platforms including LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit.
    • An analytical eye and a good sense for the type of content that performs best depending on platform and objective.
    • Understanding of educational content funnels, and using video as a core social media marketing asset.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills and aptitude for forging trusting relationships across diverse, cross-functional teams.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong content marketer.
    • Proven ability to prioritise and differentiate what matters from the noise, meeting deadlines without sacrificing quality.
    • Affinity for planning is a must; experience with project management tools like Jira is an advantage.
    • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.

    Your base pay will depend on various factors including your geographical location, level of experience, knowledge, and skills. In addition to competitive base pay, certain roles are also eligible for additional benefits and rewards, including annual bonuses and sales incentives based on revenue or utilisation.
