    Job Purpose

    Manage the teams of Databases & ETL within NBO to ensure Integrity, Security, Availability and performance. Dynamically provide L2 infrastructure support for database related to initiatives. Efficiently manage operational activities, Initiatives, Compliance mandates, Security guidelines on all designed activities including installation of software, upgrades, code deployment, Database Checklists, Security initiatives, ETL tasks related to SAP DI and related applications.

    Key Tasks and Duties

    Database Administration: Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Postgres

    • Manage all database configurations including installing and upgrading DBMS software servers and application tools, ensuring that version and change control procedures are observed, applying fixes, maintaining overall health of databases, ETL and other related applications.
    • Monitor database activity and ensure efficient access to data, and sufficient allocated resources. Undertakes regular exercises to optimize database performance using daily check list and pattern of effort.
    • Maintain databases in accordance with database and system security policies. Ensures compliance with NBO Trust Domain standard and NBO IT Security Policy.
    • Ensure database services meeting RPO and RTO of business. Plan for backup and recovery of database, planning and managing exercises to prove recovery procedures.
    • Through problem management process, database problems are investigated, diagnosed and resolved.
    • Manage the project initiatives efficiently and effectively
    • Implement cost-effective solutions for databases including big databases.
    • Optimize database performance through periodic re-org activity on database & automate reoccurring activities in available tools. Prevent or minimize recurrence of database issues.
    • Forecast DB growth
    • First level approval for production schema changes
    • First level approval changes to DB design
    • Design and Implement backup and recovery for databases
    • Implement DB failover technology
    • Predict future DB trends for H/W usage & user load.

    Data Management: ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) & Data consolidation/movement –Data Integrator

    • Explore ETL solution
      data integrator (DI)
      for BI related tasks, identify the different application and implement data transfer through DI
    • Plan, design, implement and load data across platforms and across applications formulating a workflow and improve performance and comply with audit requirements
    • Manage the various jobs and schedule to provide business related MIS data on time and adhere to service levels accordingly
    • Manage the backup and recovery mechanism and time to time version upgrade of the DI server.

    Process & Procedure

    • Track & Document tasks especially long tasks and project activities. Build a knowledge base of regular tasks, potential issues etc.
    • Capture best practices, draft QMS processes optimize organizational effectiveness.
    • Align with line-manager to meet the objective of the organizational expectation.
    • Have regular communication with supervisors & other team members

    Qualifications

    Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related subject plus the relevant current certifications for a qualified Database administrator.

    Experience

    At least 10 years' experience in database management and RDBMS architecture with in depth experience in Unix admin and scripting required for database administration. In addition, good experience in used Data warehousing concepts in analyzing and ETL technologies.
