Position Overview:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician (MEP – Tunnel Operations) is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, testing, and operational support of tunnel mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, with a focus on tunnel ventilation and Fire & Life Safety (FLS) systems.

The role ensures all systems perform reliably, safely, and in compliance with applicable standards and procedures to support uninterrupted tunnel operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect, maintain, and test tunnel jet fans, axial fans, and ventilation control systems in accordance with the approved maintenance schedule and manufacturer's recommendations.

Assist in performance verification and system operation during tunnel air quality monitoring or smoke simulation tests, ensuring compliance with safety and operational procedures.

Monitor and record operational parameters and system performance data from the Tunnel Ventilation System (TVS) control interface for analysis and reporting.

Conduct routine inspections and functional testing of Fire & Life Safety (FLS) systems, including fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems, in line with ER maintenance standards.

Ensure all maintenance and operational works are performed in full compliance with applicable safety standards, ER procedures, and permit-to-work (PTW) requirements.

Report any deviations, unsafe conditions, or non-conformities to the Supervisor immediately.

Support tunnel operations personnel and the Operations Control Center (OCC) team during incident response, emergency operations, or system isolation/reactivation activities.

Coordinate and execute maintenance works in close communication with the OCC, ensuring that all necessary permits, isolations, and safety clearances are obtained prior to commencement of any task.

Provide technical assistance to contractors and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) during specialized maintenance, inspection, testing, or commissioning works as required.

Monitor contractor performance to ensure predictive maintenance is complied with.

Support the operation and maintenance of the Tunnel Integrated Control System (TICS), including subsystems such as TVS, FLS, and MEP systems, ensuring that all field devices, communication links, and control interfaces function correctly and reliably.

Qualifications &
Experience:

Education:
Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering.

Experience:
Minimum 3–5 years in maintenance of tunnel systems, large-scale infrastructure, or industrial MEP facilities.

Certifications:
Training in PTW systems, confined space entry, and safety procedures preferred.


Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of tunnel ventilation and control systems.
Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical maintenance of fans, pumps, and control panels.
Familiarity with SCADA or integrated control systems.
Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Commitment to safety and quality standards.
Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively during emergencies.
