A Journey Through Anatomy, Education, and Research – Dr. Anil Kumar

Hello, I am Dr. Anil Kumar, an anatomist and medical educator with a deep passion for both teaching and research. My academic journey has been guided by an enduring curiosity about the human body and a strong commitment to improving how anatomy is taught and learned in medical education.

Currently, I serve as an Assistant Professor of Anatomy, where I engage with future doctors, guiding them through the fascinating structure and function of the human body. My classroom is not just about lectures—it is about interactive, research-oriented learning. I actively incorporate methods such as problem-based learning (PBL), case-based learning (CBL), team-based learning (TBL), and self-directed learning (SDL), creating an environment where students not only memorize anatomy but also learn to apply it clinically.

My research interests lie at the intersection of anatomy and forensics. Over the years, I have worked on forensic anthropology, histomorphometry, skeletal analysis, and sex estimation models, contributing to both academic knowledge and forensic science practice. I am particularly driven by the idea that anatomy extends beyond classrooms and dissection halls—it also plays a vital role in solving real-world medico-legal challenges.

As a proud FAIMER fellow, I have strengthened my skills in medical education, leadership, and curriculum development. This experience has shaped my approach to teaching, emphasizing structured assessments, innovative digital tools, and collaborative learning strategies that align with the needs of today’s medical students.

Beyond teaching and research, I enjoy creating academic resources such as clinical scenario-based MCQs and digital teaching aids that make anatomy more approachable and engaging. These efforts not only support my students but also contribute to my vision of advancing evidence-based, student-centered education.

Looking ahead, I aspire to take on greater academic and leadership responsibilities, particularly in the role of an Associate Professor of Anatomy. With dedication, curiosity, and a belief in the transformative power of education, I continue to build my journey as an anatomist who bridges tradition and innovation in medical science.
